1970年代，海南。海军文工团设考场招收歌舞演员，闻讯赶来的农场女青年黄思华兴奋地为考官们演唱了一首饱含深情的歌曲《我爱你中国》。唱毕，考场内外掌声雷动。但后续的政审工作遇到了麻烦，由于思华的父亲黄德琛是南洋华侨，历史背景不清楚，黄思华的录取搁浅了。黄德琛自1950年从南洋回国后，一直在华南农场辛勤劳动，文革期间深受迫害，一双儿女也受到牵连。他们一家人在农场饱尝了人们的白眼，思华遥望大海，苦思冥想，始终弄不明白命运对自己一家人为什么如此不公。。When he learns his days are numbered old count Hervé de Kéraudren decides to hide in a secret alcove and to die there, just to annoy his heirs. As a result of his body not being found the latter will have to wait for five years until they can inherit the count's money. Very upsetting indeed, all the more as they are required to keep up the Kéraudren estate in the meantime. To collect money, nephews and nieces organize a Son et Lumière show at the manor while busily looking for the missing corpse. But, unexpectedly, they get killed in turns. Murders or accidents?
