本剧改编自落语“人间的恐怖”中的四个故事，共有五集：《心眼》《辰巳的占卜》《绀屋高尾》《宫户川・上》《宫户川・下》。。公视《妖怪人间》带有奇幻色彩，将台湾各地乡野奇谈中的妖怪、鬼神等做连结，打造出人、妖共处的奇异世界，透过写实拍摄和大量视觉效果来呈现人类与妖怪之间的冲突。。British Army radiation drills at a remote Scottish base attract a subterranean, radioactive entity of unknown nature that vanishes, leaving two severely radiation-burned soldiers... and a "bottomless" crack in the earth. Others who meet the thing in the night suffer likewise, and with increasing severity| it seems to be able to "absorb" radiation from any source, growing bigger...。
