The story of an illegal black market of art stol...。80年代中期，西北古城某大学家属院一座拆了一部分的半边楼里住着黄、苑、呼延、朱、马五个家庭。呼延是生物系的讲师，评职称中和他的恩师黄耕成了竞争对手，双方都陷入矛盾痛苦之中，最后两个人都以事业为重，退出职称评定。新校长苑耘从大局出发，将副高职称授予呼延，从而结束了这场令人烦恼的“竞争”。但在和黄耕的黄昏恋中，这位女校长却始终无力回天。同样的，呼延在爱情问题上也身陷维谷，为了各自的事业，他和妻子杨杨终于分手，在矛盾、痛苦中，他几经曲折，最终勇敢地接受了女大学生何娜对他的一片真情……。
