古董贩子范高尚（梁小龙 饰）为了巨额利益决定盗窃阿閦佛佛头，他的手下古董商贩（来喜 饰）和刘宝（姜超 饰）在一个夜晚行动成功。古三为给奶奶筹措医药费私自把佛头卖给了文物专家孙明贤（元华 饰），这一行为引来了范高尚的报复。古三多次救助遭人追杀的青年画家莲儿，两人因艺术渐生情愫。阿閦佛佛头几经辗转在国外市场拍卖，莲儿父亲（罗家英 饰）为和女儿相认，不惜重金拍下佛头，并带回济南。得知这一消息范高尚又开始蓄谋行动，他以关押古三奶奶来要挟古三把佛头抢回，莲儿的善良单纯深深打动着着古三，古三决定和范高尚进行抗争，保护好佛头。在古三和莲儿父亲的配合下，警方终于将范高尚抓获，经历了一系列波折，莲儿最终接受父亲，父女相认。古三虽然也难逃法律的惩罚，可是莲儿芳心已许。阿閦佛佛前的两人宁静幸福……。Two Virginians are heading for a new life in Texas when they witness a stagecoach being held up.
